The transfer of public leisure facilities towards volunteer delivery CIMPSA’s role in supporting the sector

CIMSPA’s View Asset transfer is happening - we need to engage with this agenda and provide leadership and support to the sector More research into the current and future provision Identify models of good practice in order to provide clear advice and guidance to government, local authorities and volunteer groups to ensure there is no drop in standards and any transfer is sustainable Development of an “offer” for around asset transfer

What could the offer look like Initial advice / feasibility of asset transfer Training for local authority staff on engagement with volunteers Training packages for volunteers on essential skills Mentoring / Buddying from CIMSPA members Development of an asset transfer community

Next Steps Asset transfer has been included in CIMSPA new 5 year plan Currently in discussions with Sport England on accessing funding to support this area of work Roll out of the research programme from April 2015
