Q4 - What measures do you take to ensure the safety of your students and faculty when they travel abroad? (Check all that apply) Other We enrolled study abroard participants in the U.S. Department of State Smart Traveler Enrollment Program Recommends STEP registration our current travel risk and safety processes are in place for students groups traveling abroad but not for individual faculty traveling abroad Provides p-card financial support; alcohol prohibition abroad; student waivers for trio extensions; deals with providers and tries to negotiate risky issues when they arise; risk assessment with lawyers; constant contact between SAGE and leaders; etc etc etc The University has purchased blanket coverage for all travelers; we have 2 FTE International Health and Safety Officers;Sometimes we use outside providers and sometimes we do it ourself, we require phones that can make and receive calls without wifi but must be budgeted - we dont buy one; we have a standing 24/7 international Assistance Line with prescribed procedures for communication during an incident; and a lot more.... They have fun!

Q5 - What other thoughts do you have about ensuring safety to faculty and students when they travel abroad? What other thoughts do you have about ensuring safety to faculty and studen... It is important to keep students informed about possible risks by providing them information tools . Broward College registers all study abroad student in the Department of State STEP program and provides students with useful links during pre-departure orientation. providing travelers with health insurance and emergency contact card to carry with them (wallet size). Periodic phone, text or email "check-ins" while traveling, require two leaders (the instructing faculty(s) and/or administrator) for all faculty led study abroad trips Perhaps overly concerned with safety in our litigious culture. Would like to see relaxstion of dafety protocols like drinking, etc. We have a policy requireing ALL students traveling internationally plus any faculty or staff with them to register their travel with Ed Abroad Office regardless of whether it is for credit or not, regardless of funding, including to conferences, student organizations, etc. Call me to chat if you want - Ben 813-974-3724 I've assisted on one trip (China). Despite all of our efforts to warn students to be ON TIME to avoid getting lost, there is always 1 We do look at State Dept. alerts and warnings but do not have a blanket policy.

Q5 - What other thoughts do you have about ensuring safety to faculty and students when they travel abroad? What other thoughts do you have about ensuring safety to faculty and studen... It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt...
