Monitoring of progress of teaching skills One extra TPR in middle of year two TPR forms should only be concerned with teaching practice Observation reports should always have short term targets or areas for development at the end These should be carried forward on to the next observation report A record should be made of whether these have been covered in that observation

New Qualifications Award in Education and Training (L3) Certificate in Education and Training (L4) Diploma in Education and Training (L5) Diploma in Education and Training with a subject specialist pathway (literacy, numeracy, ESOL, literacy+ESOL, teaching disabled learners) Not sequential or nested

Award Almost identical to PTLLS but only offered at one level 12 credits Two units merged to reduce duplication of assessment Identical audience Only offered at level 3

Certificate 36 credits – 21 mandatory 15 optional Focus on practical teaching No link to job role No ‘nesting’ but one mandatory unit is a level 3 unit from Award to allow progression (R,R,R) 30 hours teaching (no need to be teaching groups) 3 assessed observations

Diploma 120 credits + 350 GLH Very different qualification guidance given for AB and HEIs Very different structure for units for AB List of topics for HEIs 100 hours of teaching practice (including groups) plus 8 observations Observations should be spread out

Warwick Diploma in Education and Training Mapped new to old and requested a change in title Opportunity to develop new scheme of work (move away from spiral curriculum) But must meet the needs of people new to teaching as they can start on this qual Needs to reflect the extra emphasis on teaching in year two Includes requirement to use technology
