The 2012 London Olympics Task One: Ticket Design You have been asked to to design the tickets that will be used at an event at the athletics stadium at the London 2012 Olympics. Before you begin, in pairs you need to discuss the following: Which software application would be most suitable for this task? Orientation – will the tickets be landscape or portrait (and why?) Information – what information will the ticket need to provide? Dimensions – how big should the tickets be? Appearance – what things should be added to make it attractive?

To give you a good idea of what your ticket might end up looking like, this is what the tickets at the 2010 World Cup looked like. Why do you think there are bar codes on the ticket? What is this and what is it for?

ICT and the FIFA World Cup Task One: Ticket Design The actual things the ticket needs are about to be shown below… Venue Event name Event date Start time Price Name of ticket owner Section of stadium seat is in Seat location (turnstile, block, row and number) London 2012 logo. Now open your DTP software and change the page layout and dimensions to what you need. Then make ticket making sure you have included all of the things listed to the left.

Assessment Do you know the key words from this lesson? Play the learning games to find out. Log in to your What2Learn account and unlock the Functional Skills ICT Topic (share code *****). Play the games entitled Olympics ticket. Alternatively, go straight to these web addresses (although you will get no W2L credits and your teacher will not see your scores)…
