Acceptable Use Policy I Agree Student guidelines for Internet use General The UCC Network and internet access is provided to help you learn more effectively, access is a privilege, not a right.   You are responsible for your online behaviour. Please read and click to show that you agree to comply with these simple rules   Guidelines: 1.    I will not send or display any messages or pictures that others would find offensive. 2.    I will not abuse or threaten others in my messages. 3.    I will be careful not to damage the computer equipment, software systems or the network. 4.    I will respect the intellectual property of others and uphold the copyright laws. 5.    I will keep my password secure and not attempt to use others' passwords. 6.    I will not attempt to access others' folders, work or files. 7.    I will not waste network resources, by streaming media files or using social networking sites. I understand and will abide by these guidelines and I am aware that any violation of the rules  may cause my access privileges to be removed, it may also result in further disciplinary action and I may be asked to pay for any damage caused. Remember that your online access is logged by the system and that your parents will be informed of any problems you may cause. Please remind year 8 of this. There were a number of broken rules last year and students were being silly. I Agree

Disk Space Your disc space has increased but pleased delete any work from last year. Anything you want to keep, store on a memory stick. All lessons and resources will be found on year8ucc.weebly.com

What homework will I expect? The type of homework will vary: Watching videos – making notes Coming up with questions to challenge the teacher Vocabulary – Understanding the meaning of keywords Writing a blog entry This year NO EXCUSES – Homework set will be completed whether you have a computer at home or NOT. Please let year 8’s know that they’re expected to complete all homework. There are computers available at lunch time and there are also computers available in CSC / Library and the IT suites. If they have issues then they’re expected to see you .

Your account Please check that you’re all able to get logged on to your account to begin with. Any issues – report to the teacher so that they can reset it for you!

Which one is the correct folder name? MrHamiltonsICTLessonsYear7 Ooiasjfoijsadfjo Year 7 ICT Computing This is really aimed at getting students using computers. I went into primary schools and some students are so used to using Ipad’s that they don’t know how to use a mouse or create folders. Get the students to create a set of folders and get them to create every folder. If students have deleted all of their folders, get them to create some new ones. Get them to understand that they’re required to make sure that they name their files properly. All of their future assessments will require the students to show you that they’ve named their file and stored it in a folder.

House Keeping Task? Drag all the work you want to keep in to a folder called Year 7 Work Now create a new set of folders, one for each subject you will study this year.
