Section 2 The Brain

Lobes of the Brain Bell Ringer making decisions touch & movement Based on the names of the 4 lobes and their locations…. Guess what their functions are *Hint: Options are making decisions touch & movement hearing sight

Senses & Motor Behavior Occipital lobe- primary visual area Temporal lobe- hearing/auditory area (goes from ears to thalamus) Parietal lobe- receives messages from skin senses. Frontal Lobe- motor cortex (movement)

Which lobe are you using? 1) Looking at a beautiful flower. 2) Hearing your new favorite song on the radio. 3) You have to be in two places at once and you try to figure out which event to attend and how to get out of the other one. 4) Wave to your best friend. 5) Watch lightning in the sky. 6) You are asked to drink at a party, and you have to decide whether its right or wrong. 7) Listen to your teacher lecture. 8) Feel pain when you burn your hand on the stove.

Incredible Case of Phineas Gage Damaged his frontal lobe a rod was shot through his head Great case study on brain research & how it effects your personality! Personality was completely changed!
