How can you conquer junior year? Plan ahead Procrastination is the easiest way to feel overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. Lean on someone Reach out to a friend, teacher, mentor, parent, therapist or school counselor, so you can dump your feelings. Know when it’s time to relax After-school hobbies are sometimes chosen because they look good on a resume instead of making you happy. Joy is important. Take time to breathe, and do something that allows you to unwind. Don’t get caught up in what other students are doing Figure out what success means to you.

How can you conquer junior year? Take courses that are challenging and that you enjoy Form relationships with your teachers Earn the grades you want colleges to see Set your priorities Show your true abilities Balance is key!

What steps can you be taking NOW to prepare for college? Find new opportunities Dive deeper into your current opportunities Take on new approaches Exploring New Opportunities Worksheet

What steps can you be taking NOW to prepare for college? Take on new roles.  Stay involved with your extracurricular activities and work toward leadership positions. Become involved in community service and other volunteer activities. Read, read, read.  Developing your reading skills will help prepare you for tests and make you a well- rounded individual. Practice your writing.  You’ll need good writing skills no matter what path you pursue, so work on those skills now to get prepared. Meet with your school counselor! Beginning the college search process. Look at the following important questions: What are your favorite subjects? What are your passions? What kind of environment do you want? Who do you want to be and how will that college help you? Take some time to think about these questions by creating a college wish list.
