Literacy, Dialogue and Space Ann Dale, Trudeau Fellow CRC in Sustainable Community Development Professor, Royal Roads University

Why Dialogue? The ongoing issue of delineating a public sphere that facilitates optimum information exchange, articulation and dissemination of knowledge through diverse dialogue forums is critical for the democratic participation of citizens.

What is an e-Dialogue? synchronous, real-time conversations bringing the best minds together deliberative dialogue with e-audiences actively expert-moderated inter- and transdisciplinary space access to researchers

www.e-Dialogues.ca 5 diverse expert dialogues 3 student-led Future Scientists and Used Nuclear Fuel Post-Kyoto Public Forum engaged over 10,000 Canadians

Cyberspace and e-Dialogues traditional status is irrelevant interdisciplinary space independent of place transaction costs are lower direct voice polycentric inclusion

e-Learning Points literacy expertise moderation speed of formation much greater ICTs capacity for diverse engagement capacity for lateral thinking

Space and Place networks and e-dialogues can speed the dissemination of intellectual capital scale-free networks new models of learning communities based on sharing (S-learning) strategies, to speed the exploitation of knowledge
