Islam Independent Study Week Monday 3/25-Friday 3/29

Objective: You will be responsible for researching one them of civilization and trace the history of the development of Islam from 570-1453 AD. Standards: 8.4.7.A. Summarize the social, political, cultural, and economic contributions of individuals and groups in world history. Standards: 8.4.7.B. Explain the importance of historical documents, artifacts, and sites which are critical to world history. Standards: 8.4.7.C. Differentiate how continuity and change have impacted world history. Standards: 8.4.7.D. Explain how conflict and cooperation among groups and organizations have impacted the history of the world.

Check out google classroom for movies ISLAM from 570 AD-1453 AD Research your chosen theme of civilization. Use the 4 essential questions to anchor your research and then create a presentation for the class covering the aspects of civilization. Check out google classroom for movies Use in class text pgs 368-398 Cite your sources

Presentation -Can be any format you want: wevideo, PP presentation, lecture, activity, etc. -No longer than 10 minutes and must cover all the required information as well as answer the essential questions. -Presentations will be Tuesday 4/2 and Wednesday 4/3

Rubric Content: Information includes at least 5 pieces of PEDKaP (evidence). Requirements met (listed on previous slides). /30 Closing/Summary = Answered Essential Question /5 Presentation: presentation is clear and concise. Every member participated speaking during the presentation. /15 Students are able to take notes during the presentation and understand the material. One aspect of the presentation is interactive. /15 Mechanics: no grammar or spelling mistakes /5

Government Tied to religion-how? Hierarchy? How does cultural diffusion shape and change government? Examine the different sects of Islam

Technology Discoveries Legacies In military, science, math, astrology, etc.

Essential questions-address all 4 in your presentation as they pertain to your theme How does geography influence the growth of Islam? What impact does trade/economics have on the organization and daily life of people? What are the evolving principles and ideals that have shaped government over time-specific to Islam? How does the legacy of civilizations impact their interaction throughout history? Religion and Beliefs: choose any question to answer
