While I am stamping answer: What problems arose from Rome’s expansion after the Punic Wars? What factors weakened the Roman Republic? Which 2 generals were given powers by the Senate to put down a slave rebellion? Cicero suggestion to repair the republic was to ___________ What is a rule of three? Who were the members of this first political alliance?

1/7 Academic objective: What is the ides of March? What do you see in the picture that can help you understand and “predict” this event? Open your text to pages 298-391 What are the 3 types of documents you will be examining? What should you look for when using the secondary sources? Copy and answer all 3 constructed responses from pgs 298-299, then answer the Synthesize and write questions (1-4). Then read pgs 300-301-what is happening in the picture? Answer the question.

Responses: 1. Roman leaders (senators) wanted all to remember Julius Caesar’s fate when they saw the commemorative coin, as a warning-do not challenge them! What is the coin called? 2. The violence showed how much the “liberators” hated Caesar and feared his popularity with the people. 3. Mark Antony said Caesar was assassinated because of his ambition! Synthesize & write: 1. Republic, SPQR, Legions-loyalty, expansion, etc. 2. doc. 1 = Commemorate JC death and lessons from it, doc 2 = “fake news” even in Rome facts were used a propaganda. Doc 3 = Brutus was noble and protector of Republic, JC was power hungry. 3. The actions and speech of the senators and the patrician class show that they did not favor Caesar’s ideas and actions. 4. –evidence needed PEDKaP Pg 301- Horror on the faces of onlookers, intense body language=show intensity of the moment.
