Recycling

Get Psyched About Recycling You can help the environment by following these tips on recycling: You can only recycle certain things. You might think paper is trash, but it is not. It is recyclable. Recycling is very easy. All you have to do is learn what is and is not recyclable!

Recyclable You can recycle this stuff! Remove paper, and newspaper plastics 1,2,3,4,5, and 7, but not 6 Kleenex box, but remove attached plastic You can recycle this stuff! TO FIND OUT IF A PLASTIC IS RECYCLABLE LOOK FOR NUMBERS 1-5 INSIDE THE TRIANGLE. IF THE NUMBER IS 6 OR IF THERE IS NO NUMBER IT CANNOT BE RECYCLED What else in your classroom is recyclable? Turn and talk.

Not Recyclable foam/polystyrene (plastic 6) kleenex plastic ! ! (Make sure your teacher throws lamination in the trash. ;) Food Lamination

Tips On Recycling Try not to use plastic bags, it’s better for the environment. Use paper bags because they decompose faster, meaning they disappear faster. Cloth bags can be used and cleaned. Pay attention to what you throw in the recycling bin and trash bins. Don’t just go to the nearest bin. Look for the recycling sign. In #1, I’d say “use paper bags because they can be recycled, meaning they can be transformed into more paper”

Help Jamie Recycle Marcos watched Jamie, whose desk is close to the recycling can, get up and go to the recycling can to throw away a Gogurt. What should Marco say? Turn and Talk with a partner. That yogurt goes in the trash. Please don’t put it in the recycling. Thank you, Jamie.

Help Jack Recycle Jack is learning how to recycle. He goes over to the trash with some paper. What should he do with the paper? Turn and Talk Recycle it.

Recycling With Kris Kris is recycling a Kleenex box. What does he need to do before recycling the box? Turn and talk Take off the plastic.

Which symbol is the recycling symbol? Remember to look for numbers 1-5 inside the triangle to know which plastics can be recycled. If there is no triangle or if the number inside is a 6 then it cannot be recycled

This one!

What is Composting? Composting is nature’s way of recycling! Composting is when decomposers turn anything that was once alive (food scraps, soiled paper like napkins, fur, etc.) into very nutritious soil.

Composting When we compost we are using the nutrients in our leftover food to help plants grow. If food goes to the landfill it produces gases that warm the earth.

What can I compost?

Tray will be composted, needs to go in tray stacker! What can I compost? Tray will be composted, needs to go in tray stacker! Everything other than the juice pouch can be composted since it was once alive. Tray must go in the tray stacker!

Thank you for reading and being smart recyclers Thank you for reading and being smart recyclers. And, remember to stay green.
