Ms. Hovious’ 1st Grade Week of: April 8, 2019 BOGO Book fair April 15-18 Family Reading Night April 18th No School April 19th and 22nd Please send in a cereal box by April 16th. This week we will begin our unit on measurement. Students will be able to identify shorter and longer and practice measuring with different units such as cubes. Have your child measure items around the house using different items as a unit. This week in reading we will read Henry and Mudge and Mrs. Hopper’s House and work on vowels in moon and add suffixes -ly and -ful. We will also discuss cause and effect. This week we are going to work in our interactive notebook with weather instruments. Students will get the chance to make their own windsock. We are also working on our weather chapter books. This week we will continue adding detail to our writing and picture for our weather chapter books. Students are meeting with their writing partner for editing. Spelling Words slowly, careful, quickly, useful, painful, playful, sadly, gladly, nicely, wonderful Sight Words across, because, dance, only, opened, shoes, told
