Figure 1 Animals grow more with less ice above them. Carbon held by the bryozoan Cellarinella watersi in relation to annual duration of sea ice. The bryozoans were collected from the Amundsen, Bellingshausen and Scotia Seas. The regression relationship shown is significant (with the 95% confidence interval shown as a dotted line).
