Cables, Racks, and the rest Johan Norin www.europeanspallationsource.se 20 November 2018

Cables The number of cables have increased. Cable information is more complete. Nov 2017 Nov 2018 Cables in cdb 1687 2636 Tunnel patch cables 731 Cables without connector information 994 31 (BCM fiber and IPM) Some target instrumentation is still missing from the cable database.

Cable endpoints Endpoint resolution is increased. This is ongoing. 2017 Cable endpoints are racks and diagnostic systems. Exemple: rack 14 in row 5 to DTL Faraday cup 2018 Cable endpoints are physical patch panels and electronics. Exemple: row 14, rack 5, panel 3 to DTL Faraday Cup actuator LBS information is added.

Cable database validation Are all cables correct? Rack electronic allocation Boxes represents allocated space for equipment. Worst size scenario assumed during planning. Many small changes since 2017. Device # Location BCM 1 MBL-010 BPM 4 MBL-010 – MBL-020 ICBLM 20 SPK-100 – MBL-060 LBM

The rest Naming tool: All cable endpoints must be named in the ESS naming service. Section-subsection:Discipline-Device-ID SPK-040LWU:PBI-BPM-001 Cables: All ”long” cables are named in the cable database. System-Subsystem-Class-ID 22B010784 Internal rack cables: Separate system from cdb. Control group - Function WS01-signal1

The rest Naming tool CDB names FBS (Facility Breakdown Structure) WS01-signal1 FBS defines positions (slots) for everything. ESS.ACC.B01.B02.B11.B05.B01 ESS Sensor: HBL-200Crm:PBI-ICBLM-001 Accelerator System:HBL-200Crm:PBI-BLM-001 PBI Group ICBLM-11 Beam loss monitors

The rest The FBS is one of several ESS-wide databases: FBS – Positions (systems and equipment slots based on function) LBS – Locations (rooms, buildings, beam sections) EAM – Hardware (what goes into the positions)

The rest Present count of equipment: Diagnostic systems: 529 Beamline elements: 959 MTCA crates: 78 Electronics: 1143

The rest Thank you!
