Program Review Presentation March 17, 2016 Nursing Program Review Presentation March 17, 2016

Program Description The ARC Nursing Program offers a generic ADN or transition LVN to RN option with monitoring for NCLEX-RN pass rates. Professional development is encouraged through participation in the Student Nurses Association (SNA). Students are encouraged to develop a spirit of inquiry and to acknowledge the professional need for life-long learning. Nursing utilizes: skills labs, simulations with high fidelity physiologic manikins and outpatient and acute care clinical experiences. Brief Description of your program. Who are you? One Slide, 2 minutes

Benchmarks How do we know the program is successful? The Nursing program uses an external exam given by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (called NCLEX) for its terminal Student Learning Outcome. The benchmark is a pass rate of 75%. Our NCLEX pass rates: 2010-2011……90.53% 2011-2012……95% 2012-2013……94.55% 2013-2014……85.71% 2014-2015……94.03%

Program -- Strengths Counseling Updates each semester to enable counseling to better serve students interested in the nursing program. Collaboration with RAD to improve student persistence and success. Ongoing faculty is oriented to new clinical settings, processes and equipment. The EMP is collaboratively reviewed by the faculty each year aid in planning for actual needs to provide a better, more enhanced learning environment. 4th semester nursing students participate in a 96 hour preceptorship. ADN-BSN: Ongoing articulation agreements are in place with CSUS, Excelsior and Phoenix University. Supporting the Student Nurse Association to help students achieve their goals including a Welcome Event for incoming nursing students. Development and implementation of online evaluations for the students in the nursing program. Nursing Advisory committee to provide and solicit feedback from our local healthcare community. Faculty represent our program at the Regional Planning meetings held by major healthcare organizations in our area.

Program -- Challenges ELL students – implement and evaluate a program to improve the ability of ELL students to listen, read, speak and write in English. Gainful employment readiness for graduating students. High School Articulation to maintain and develop relationships with local high schools. Continued work to increase responses to Clinical Facility and Student Experience-Staff Feedback Evaluations. Continue to encourage and support the enrollment and retention of special populations in the Nursing Program Workshops to support student success focusing on learning strategies, utilization of online tools and assessments, reiteration of advanced concepts. Administrative support for faculty and students of our programs. Continual update of equipment and technology. Utilization of graduate students as teaching assistants to support clinical instruction.

Planning Implications The faculty will continue working on development of a new curriculum that is concept based and is focused on total quality improvement. Progressive and innovative work on a new curriculum that is student-focused, concept based, and has a thread of critical inquiry throughout. Continue work on the development of ADN to BSN collaboratives providing a depth and breadth in associate degree education that also positions students to successfully secure employment. The faculty will continue to regularly assess program data including, but not limited to: student feedback, student demographics, student success and attrition rates.
