British actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn is widely recognized as a film and fashion icon. But, in her later years, she appeared in fewer films and devoted much of her later life to UNICEF. Although contributing to the organization since 1954, she worked in some of the most profoundly disadvantaged communities of Africa, South America and Asia between 1988 and 1992. On June 13th, 1989, Hepburn gave a speech to the member’s of the United Nations Staff. This speech illuminated the necessity for UNICEF as well as addressing the assistance needed to eradicate poverty. Is this message still relevant today?
