Introduction to Stats Honors Analysis

Data Analysis Individuals: Objects described by a set of data. (Ex: People, animals, things) Variable: Any characteristic of an individual. Can take different values for different individuals. Categorical Variable: Places individual into one of several groups or categories. Quantitative Variable: Numerical data (for which it makes sense to make mathematical calculations)

Frequency Table Titanic Passengers By Ticket Class

Relative Frequency Table (percents) Titanic Passengers By Ticket Class

BAR CHART People on the Titanic (By Ticket Class)

Pie Chart Titanic Passengers By Ticket Class

Whats Wrong With This Graph?

Two-Way Tables (Contingency Tables) Compares two kinds of data (in this case, survival and ticket class)

Marginal Distributions

Conditional Distributions Calculate row or column percentages

Conditional Distributions Calculate row or column percentages

Segmented Bar Chart Survival By Class

Comparative Bar Chart Ideal Distance from College to Home Why is this not an ideal display???
