Passé Composé vs. Imparfait Both are PAST tenses, BUT have distinctive uses are NOT interchangeable The choice of which to use depends on the Context Point of view of the speaker

Uses of the Passé Composé To express specific actions that started & ended in the past & are seen by the speaker as completed J’ai nettoyé la salle de bains hier. To tell about events that happened at a specific point in time or within a specific length of time Je suis allé à la pêche il y a deux ans.
