Introduction to Project Management What Is a project? A project is a sequence of unique, complex, and connected activities having one goal or purpose and that must be completed by a specific time, within budget, and according to specification.

Project management is accomplished through the application and integration of the project management processes of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.

Analysis of the Project using Primavera Primavera results show that the expected time frame for the implementation of the project is 232 working days, while the total budgeted cost will be equal 1,004,903 $.

Problem Case If the assumption that the period of completion of the project according to the contract agreement is 250 working days, and required the contractor to 280 days of work to accomplish the works.

Earned Value Analysis Earned Value Reporting – Costs Cot variance = BCWP – ACWP = 1004903 – 1135870 = - 130967 Cost Performance Index = BCWP/ACWP = 1004903/1135870 = 0.88 < 1 over budget

Earned Value Reporting – Schedule Schedule Variance = BCWP – BCWS = 1004903 – 1100000 = - 95097 Schedule Performance Index = BCWP / BCWS = 1004903/1100000 = 0.91 < 1 behind schedule
