An example: the activities involved in going to work. An example: the activities involved in going to work. The work given constraints are related to the location, the time of arrival, and the probability of delays. Constraints in means are defined by the transport alternatives, i.e. to take the tube, a taxi, or to drive by yourself. The subjective process criterion determining your choice depends on economy, your husband or wife’s request to bring some grocery and, maybe, consideration of the time spent, the likelihood of traffic jams. Given the decision to drive by yourself, the choice of route depends on the secondary task of shopping, of your joy with a particular scenery, and the traffic density. Finally, en route, the speed you choose depends on traffic given constraints, on formal conditions such as speed limits or your husband or wife’s anxiety, and ultimately “sporty” criteria related to your driving skill, i.e. to drive fast with smooth gear changes.
