Write the question number and your answer, but do not write the question: Which piece of writing was the hardest for you? Why? Which piece of writing do you think is your best? Why? Which piece of writing was least successful? Why? When you look at the writing pieces, in what area do you see the most growth (commentary, organization, length, evidence selection, etc.)? Which of the above mentioned items continues to be your greatest struggle? What can/Should we do to help you in this area? Which essay makes the most sense for you to select for revision? Select five things specifically you are going to change?

On the text you selected for revision: In 1 color highlighter…. Highlight all of your signal phrases for evidence…. Signal phrases only! LT- I can analyze my past pieces of argument writing SC- I can analyze my previous arguments and select one to make improvements and positive changes to and submit as a final essay.

Lets look at some good and not so good examples…. Tag lines to avoid…. My first piece of evidence is….. My authorizing evidence is… My illustrating evidence is.. My next piece of evidence is… First I want to talk about… Etc… Instead say…. According to John Smith, author of “Text title” John Smith, author of “Text Title” states, The Article titled “Text Title” claims, John Smith states, “Evidence” in his article titled “Article Title.” Etc.

On the text you selected for revision Assignment- Go through your selected text and change all of your signal phrases to be more academic sounding! Add to each piece of evidence if any were missing.
