Introducing Oneself WARM UP ASK AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS: What do you do in your free time? How often do you ……? (How often do you go to the gym?) What is you day like? What time do you usually get up? (have lunch/go to bed etc) What is the most difficult part of your day?

WHAT CHARACTERISTICS DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A FRIEND?

CHARACTERISTICS WHAT CHARACTERISTICS DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A FRIEND? Generous, kind, sincere (honest), loyal (trustworthy/reliable), funny, a good listener (noun), patient, optimistic, mature, independent, intelligent (smart/clever), talkative (chatty)……

WHAT CHARACTERISTICS DON’T YOU LIKE?

TALKING ABOUT YOUR BEST FRIEND USING THE PRESENT SIMPLE/LIKE AND DISLIKE + NOUN/VERB + ING AND THE ADJECTIVES DESCRIBE YOUR BEST FRIEND. REMEMBER TO USE THE 3 RD PERSON SINGULAR. ALSO TRY TO USE ADVERBS AND EXPRESSIONS OF FREQUENCY.

EXAMPLE My best friend’s name is Vicki and she is an English teacher like me. She lives in England because she works and studies there. We keep in contact by using Facebook but she always calls me at least once a week. She never has any free time so I am not sure if she has any hobbies. However, she is a very energetic person and she is always busy. Vicki is a very optimistic person, she is reliable and trustworthy but she is sometimes moody.

LIKE AND LOOK LIKE What does he/she look like? (QASI) She/he is tall and thin with big blue eyes. TO LOOK LIKE SOMEONE – MEANS TO DESCRIBE A PERSON OR THING PHYSICALLY

LIKE AND LOOK LIKE What is he/she like? (verb TO BE) He/she is friendly and optimistic but he/she can be moody. TO BE LIKE – MEANS TO DESCRIBE SOMEONE’S CHARACTER OR PERSONALITY
