2019 Williamston main Street Challenge Program Guidance and application information

What is the Main Street Challenge? Main Street Challenge is: Entrepreneurial start-up competition Designed to generate added retail occupancy in Downtown, historic Williamston Funded by Innovate Anderson and the Town of Williamston Administered by Envision Williamston, a nonprofit organization

What Will it do? Benefits of the program: There will be up to two individual awards Each winner will receive up to $10,000 Assistance with Business plan development Other In-Kind Assistance

Who is eligible? Eligibility Criteria: Legal residents, 18 years + Independent or Franchise New Element in an existing location

Why Williamston? Market Potential: Averaging 3-12 Businesses per year Enhanced streetscapes and historic Mineral spring park Residential growth More than 20 Annual events marketed at the regional level Local government and private reinvestment $3M +

What types of businesses? Priority businesses: Fresh market or grocery store Food and dining Coffee, Bakery, or ice cream parlor Gift shops or day spa Sporting goods Activity center (Bowling, Min. Golf, Skating, Crafts)
