Bell Work Take one Learning Target (green slip) from the bin. Glue it into your notebook on the next page. Circle the verbs. Underline the most important terms. Write the LT in your own words. Movement: In your seat. Voice: Silent Purpose: Set goals for today, warm up for work session.

Learning Target I can annotate text to help me track important ideas in the article “Time Trip: Sudan’s Civil War.”

Time Trip: Sudan’s Civil War In A Long Walk to Water, Salva doesn’t know much about the conflict that has driven him from home. Nya doesn’t mention the war at all. In “Time Trip: Sudan’s Civil War,” we will look for context to better understand the problems of the novel. Ask students, “What are examples of how someone’s culture shapes their identity?” “What are two examples of how the time period in which someone lives shapes their identity?” “What is one example of how the physical place in which someone lives shapes their identity?”

Exit Ticket What you need to understand about Sudan’s civil war is ______________ ______________________________.

Homework Re-read Chapter 3 and chose 3 quotes to prepare for tomorrow’s work session. “I think this example shows my abilities to cite evidence because…” or “I selected this evidence because it tells me ____ about the characters in the book.”
