Contact us on pavilion@avps.org.uk or telephone 01604 629360 The Pavilion Buzz Summer term 1 2019 Message from the Team…..….Welcome Back to a jam packed term! We hope you all had a lovely Easter break, we were so lucky with the weather! We would like to thank all you wonderful amazing families for supporting our Easter Bonnet Parade. Well done to our winners: 1st Manveer, 2nd Joe and in 3rd Georgia-Rose. Glad to say that the Forest School has started again this week for 5 weeks for selected children on a Wednesday afternoon. Don’t forget Little Monkeys Photographers are in on Wednesday 1st May, can ALL children leaving for school please get their photo taken. You are welcome to bring siblings for photographs from 8.30am. This short term aims to be jam packed with lots of growth related excitement. You may have already seen that we have a large collection of tadpoles, the children will be learning about lifecycles and how they will change. We shall be growing cress in the coming weeks too. Very exciting for us, we have an egg hatching experience arriving on 13th May. We will have the opportunity to observe the eggs and hopefully see them hatch, it is then our job to care for the chicks until they are collected at the end of this term. The time has come to plan our summer fete and leavers graduation ceremony. Last year we had an amazing response and need as much help as possible to organise a successful event. Thursday 2nd May at 7.30 is our first fundraising meeting. It will be held at the Trumpet Pub, we would love to see as many volunteers as possible. Lastly, as you may have noticed our outdoor space is looking rather unkempt, we have begun weeding around the front gate but as you can imagine we just don’t have the time to do a full job when our priority is your children. Saturday 11th May at 10am we are asking for as many volunteers as possible to help us out with weeding, planting and cutting the grass. Dates for your diaries: Wednesday 24th April – we reopen at 9am Wednesday 1st May – Little Monkey’s Photography - forest school as usual but please come to preschool first, we will go out after the afternoon children have had their photographs taken Thursday 2nd May – Summer fete meeting, 7pm at the Trumpet Pub. Saturday 11th May – Gardening day at the Pavilion Wednesday 22nd May – final forest school session this term Friday 24th May – Close at 4pm for half term Re-open on Monday 3rd June Wednesday 12th June – Sports day 1pm (all children welcome) Wednesday 19th June - 2nd option for sports day What we are learning and celebrating this term….. Growth – tadpoles, cress growing and an egg hatching experience are all to come this term. Gardening – to enhance our outdoor planting areas donations of bedding plants, bulbs or seeds would be much appreciated pls. Reminders: Please ensure that we have named suncream, sunhats and spare sets of clothes as the children will be doing more outdoor & water based activities as the weather is getting better. Tip of the term!! Encourage your child to dress and undress in school readiness. Contact us on pavilion@avps.org.uk or telephone 01604 629360
