FRUITS Kids YOUR AGE need 1-1 ½ cups of fruit every single day! Any kind of fruit or 100% fruit juice counts towards this! Fruit can be: Canned Frozen Dried Whole Cut-Up Poured Examples: Apples, Bananas, and Oranges

VEGETABLES (VEGGIES) Kids YOUR AGE need 1 ½ cups every single day! Any kind of veggie or 100% vegetable juice counts towards this! Veggies are split into subgroups: Dark-green Starchy Red & Orange Beans & Peas Other Veggies Veggies can be raw, cooked, fresh, frozen, canned, dried, whole, cut-up, and mashed! Examples: Green beans, Potatoes, and Carrots

GRAINS Kids YOUR AGE need 5 oz. equivalents every single day! Grains are made from wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley, or other cereal grains! Grain subgroups: Whole Grains Refined Grains Examples: Bread, Pasta, and Cereal

Proteins Kids YOUR AGE need 4 oz. equivalents every single day! Protein helps to give you energy you need to tackle the day! This can be found in lots of different types of food! Examples: Beef, Chicken, and Nuts

DAIRY Kids YOUR AGE need 2 ½ cups every single day! Dairy can be found in many different types and forms of food! ALMOST anything that can be made from milk is found in the Dairy group. Examples: Milk, Yogurt, and Cheese

OILS This is NOT a food group, but some provide essential nutrients! Kids YOUR AGE can have up to 4 teaspoons every single day! Oils are usually seen as Canola Oil, Olive Oil, and other cooking oils! Other foods we eat have oils in them too, such as: Butter Mayonnaise Some salad dressings
