Additional Guidelines for Juniors as Field Experience Participators

Review Sophomore Requirements You must observe the same documentation requirements and general guidelines Sophomores only observe. You will be expected to participate by teaching or leading class activities as much as possible.

Visit the school in advance Meet the cooperating teacher Arrange to meet at their convenience by phone or Email Don’t drop in unannounced Always dress professionally even during unofficial visits Always take your credentials to the school with you

Visit the school in advance Find out what content you will be covering in general terms See if you can borrow a textbook Discuss what levels the teacher is willing to allow you to teach

During First Day of First Participation Week Ask the teacher if additional hours may be served in weeks where participation is scheduled. Use the Methods 2 Field Experience Plan to inform the teacher of your available hours. (Have it completed in advance)

During First Day of First Participation Week Calculate travel time and sufficient time to attend any other LHU courses in which you are enrolled when you write out your additional available hours.

During First Day of First Participation Week Explain the necessity of each candidate making individual arrangements with the teacher for the additional hours. Have the teacher review the form to determine if any or all of the additional hours can be fulfilled.

During First Participation Week Let the teacher know they have the right to refuse additional time. If they refuse, please have them indicate that preference on the form.

During First Day of First Participation Week Have the form copied (4). Keep one. Give one to the teacher. Give one to the principal’s office. Give one to Dr. Allen. Give one to me.

Reminders Be sure to fulfill the hours you agreed to. Inform me and your cooperating teacher if you must be absent for any reason.
