High school athletics is governed by the WIAA and the Issaquah School District
What student-Athletes can expect from Coaches Professional Communication Safety, “When in doubt hold you out” Protect you from Harassment, Intimidation, bullying and or Hazing
Coaches are Trained to Maintaining Professional Boundaries District Regulation 5253 Coaches are also mentors and available for you to approach them with questions on matters not exclusive to athletics if you are comfortable doing so but will NOT reach out and encourage you to confide your personal or family problems and/or relationships. If you initiate such discussions, staff members will listen but are expected to refer the student to appropriate guidance/counseling staff if they cant be part of a solution. Coaches will not send phone, email, text messages, or other forms of written or electronic communication to students when the communication is unrelated to school work, athletics, or other legitimate school business. If a coach sends e-mails, text messages or other electronic communications to the student from anything other than District issued email another adult, and or teammate will be included on the communication. We tell coaches that they should use school e-mail address and phone numbers and the parents’ phone numbers for communications with students, except in an emergency situation.

Skyline Athletics Spring Grade Check Dates Initial Grade Check – Previous semester grades – Semester 1 2018-19 2/3 Week suspension End of Mid-Third Quarter - Ends Monday, 3/11. Grades are due from teachers on Monday, 3/18. End of Third Quarter – Ends Friday, 4/19-. Grades are due from teachers on Friday, 4/26. End of Fourth Quarter – Ends Friday, 5/24. Grades are due from teachers on Friday, 5/1. * Student-athletes are able to practice – must be in street clothes while on the bench, field or court.
Things We Can Control Please make sure your athletes come to school and practices fueled up: eat breakfast, have snacks for later in the day. Proper rest: 8–10 hours of sleep Help your student advocate for themselves Provide unconditional support – No matter what the outcome
