Adjectives Before modifying word After modifying word Ex: The wild and graceful deer ran through the forest. After modifying word Ex: The deer, wild and graceful, ran through the forest. Separated from the words they modify Ex: The casserole was delicious. Adjectives usually precede the words they modify If asked, predicate adjective = an adj. that completes the meaning of a linking verb and modifies the subject of the verb

Articles Most frequently used adjectives = a, an, and the A and An = indefinite articles Ex: Maple Avenue is a one-way street. The = definite article Ex: The lion is often called “the king of the beasts.” These are articles that modify a noun or pronoun Indefinite = Refer to any member of a general group Ex 1: “a” modifies Maple Avenue. Definite = Refers to someone or something in particular Ex 2: “The” modifies lion; “the” modifies king; “the” modifies beasts

PRONOUN—Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote these. “which” modifies the noun “museum” “which” replaces the noun “museum” “these” modifies the noun “stories” “these” replaces the noun “stories” The words this, that, these, and those are called demonstrative adjectives when they modify nouns or pronounsm, and they are called demonstrative pronouns when they replace nouns or pronouns.

Ad Activity You are going to count off by 8 With your group members, decide on an item you would want to sell to the public. This can be as created as you want (keep it appropriate please ). Write your item name at the top of your poster. TASK—Write an ad for this item trying to entice individuals to purchase the product. Be sure to include accurate and vivid adjectives, specific nouns, and relevant pronouns. Be creative and detailed. Write 7-9 sentences selling your ad with complex sentences. Make sure to write your names on the poster.

At the bottom of the poster, specify which type of pronoun is being used here (personal, reflexive, intensive, demonstrative, interrogative, relative, indefinite)
