DECEMBER NEWS LETTERS. Hello Kindergarten and First Grade parents! In December we followed with Manipulatives, and I introduced the topic of Nutrition. It was amazing to realize that my students already knew some interesting facts about this topic. We did a variety of activities for this topics such as: A board that helped my students to understand what types of food is natural, and low in calories and sugar to consume with frequency. The type of food that is natural but high in fat or sugar so is recommended to consume with some frequency, and a group of beverage and food that are completely unnatural with a elevate fat and sugar level who are non recommended to consume.

A video about what happen when the body consume food with an high level of sugar and artificial ingredients like colorants or preservatives. Also we did some activities which helped my students to classify different food items into the 5 groups of foods (Vegetables, proteins, grains, fruits, and dairies). Also, they learned how to distribute this groups of food according to “My Plate”, the State Nutrition Program.
