Great Depression Would You Rather Directions: Read through the following scenarios. Circle the option you would rather experience if you were living in the United States during the Great Depression. After making your choice, explain your reasoning in the space below. Then, come up with your own scenario and have your neighbor choose. Would you rather… Explain your reasoning. Endure the Dust Bowl out West? Lose your factory job living in the city? Give Hoover more time to fix the country’s economy? Change up the country’s leadership by electing a Democrat with radical ideas? Enlist in the National Guard to have a source of income? Not have a secure job, but not risk being called into service if Americans enter WWII? Leave your family to work for the CCC? Stay with your family but live in a Hooverville? Have the government invest in business to spur job growth through trickle down economics? Have the government invest directly in helping the poor through programs like food stamps? Stand in an unemployment line all day trying to get a job? Stand in a soup kitchen line all day trying to get one hot meal? Send your children to live in an orphanage? Stay with your children but risk starvation?
