TRAINING DATES TRAINING STARTS AGAIN IN MARCH 2019 OTHER NOTICES: Sunday 2 December: TW Winter Shelter Prayer Meeting; 4-5pm at St James’ Church. Join us for an opportunity to pray together for God’s blessing on the Churches Winter Shelter.  All are very welcome as we stand together in prayer.  Street Teams need male volunteers on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday nights.  They meet from 8.30pm to 10pm latest at the Town Hall yard car park. If anyone is interested please ring 07958 653814. PRAYER REQUESTS Spoke to R, who told us about his brother who had died a few weeks ago. He was extremely upset, his brother died from a brain tumour - please pray. Also, pray for M, he grew up in a Christian home, his father left, and he is blaming God. His friend’s mother died, and he is questioning, and really hurt, and wondering where God is in the situation. Prayer is also needed for A, who was drinking when we met him on the streets. He goes to Alcoholics Anonymous. He’s 25. His grandmother, who he is very fond of, is a Christian. Mother and partner are Jehovah’s Witnesses. He doesn’t have a faith, but SPs feel he is seeking. He was very respectful. The SPs told him how much God loves him. He was very grateful for the work of the SPs. Also, prayer is needed for his friend, who was high on drugs. Website: http://streetpastors.org/locations/tunbridge-wells/ The following is based on stats from April to Sept 2018 reports: No of patrols in Tunbridge Wells: 27 No of volunteer hours: 664 Called the police x3, ambulance x5 and CCTV x7. Made contact with : 1066 people!! 57% male/ 43% women – so predominantly male 75% are in the 18-25yr old bracket, 22% over 25, and 3% 13 -17 year olds. 96% are white, 3% are African/Caribbean and below 1% - Eastern European and Asian When SP’s need to intervene, 52% men/48% women Intoxication, 65% men, 35% women Violence 70% committed by men, 30% by women. The majority of the conversations we have with people on the streets, are faith based. I wanted to pass on my gratitude for the support you gave my daughter a couple of weeks ago. She had left a club in town (TWells) in the early hours one weekend and she had then been assaulted by another teenager. The Street Pastors had been there to pick her up and help her calm down so she could work out how to get home safely. I’m so grateful for that little bit of dignity you gave her back. I’ve heard of other acts of kindness by your service - simple verbal reassurance at a potentially vulnerable time, flip flops being handed out to young women to help them get home etc. Such a kind and important service. You made a real difference to my young daughter’s awful experience. Thank you. A message from our Prayer Coordinator, Doreen Blackman. Although its not too cold, it's not exactly nice out there on the streets, a bit cloudy and some rain too. We never know how the weather will affect those enjoying themselves in town but as you, I trust, feel nice and warm at home, or whatever you may be doing, please pray for the teams, Street and Prayer teams. Thank you again for your prayer support in this work. There are nearly always opportunities to bless and pray for those the SP's meet and often we don't know the outcome of our work and prayers but the Lord does. It's a good time of year to take the opportunity to share the real meaning of Christmas. Interested in becoming a Street or Prayer pastor? Contact us using the information below. We look forward to hearing from you! Matthew 5:16 New International Version (NIV) 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
