Cottonwood By Grace Friday 13th

Structure Of Cottonwood Cottonwood is a vascular plant It grows 60 to 100 feet tall The trunk is usually 5 to 6 feet wide It has a soft trunk and limbs

Method Of Growth Cottonwood uses Photosynthesis Photosynthesis is when the sun’s light gets trapped by the chlorophyll and the water (h2o) comes up the xylem. A chemical reaction and the 2 hydrogen stay and the oxygen is recessed into the air. Then the carbon dioxide inters the plant through the leaves.

Reproduction The female cottonwood produces a fluffy, white corn like covered seeds While the male produces pollen The pollen of a deciduous male cottonwood tree ripens in the spring season which is in late March to early April. Winds carry pollinated seeds through the air to reproduce the species.

Habitat And Climate Cottonwoods prefer moist soil near water sources But can grow in dry soils especially if it started there You can find them in Salem , Willamette and Western Or Also in Texas, Arizona, Michigan, Kansas Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma , Utah , Alaska , Alabama , California , New Mexico , and Wyoming

Fun Facts About Cottonwood The Kansas and Wyoming State Tree is The Cottonwood The seeds can stain stuff orange
