…..but why should we hire you? What skills and qualities can you offer? What is meant by skills and qualities?

What is the difference between a skill and a quality? A skill is something you can learn or something you are naturally good at that you can use in your work. Can you think of an example? Carpentry Languages Painting Writing Electrics

Think of a good quality for the person next to you and tell them! A quality is a more personal attribute which can describe the kind of person you are. Can you think of an example? Kind Responsible Creative Thoughtful Think of a good quality for the person next to you and tell them!

Rank them in order and be prepared to share your reasons why. Surely they are all important – you never know when you might have a Spanish customer, or if the chef invites you to train with them. The moral of the story is…. Your skills and qualities are transferable for different jobs and careers. If you can understand and develop your own personal skills and qualities you will succeed!

Starter ( 5minutes) On a scrap of paper, write down the name of someone in your tutor group and the job you think he/she would be good at. Be prepared to explain to YOUR TUTORGROUP your reasons. Be sensible ! Hand your piece of paper to your tutor.
