Beowulf Where does this poem take place? Who is the king at the time of the action? Trace Hrothgar’s ancestry and what they did. What is the purpose of all this exposition?

Beowulf Exposition Prompt The text says that Grendel is a descendant of Cain – according to the Bible, the first murderer. This is an allusion that many ancient listeners would have recognized. If you are an ancient listener, listening to Beowulf for the first time, what can you imply about Grendel’s character? Answer in one C-E-C paragraph.
