Goldberg Lab
In this project you will be creating, testing and executing a Rube Goldberg device over the course of four days Goldberg Lab
ENERGY TRANSFER Day 1 – Brainstorm & Design Students get into groups to brainstorm ways to accomplish their purpose in more than 8 steps. This is 4 causes and effects (Example: ball knocks down dominoes is one cause and effect.) They will sketch the design and get it approved by the teacher. It should include various forms of energy transformation. **Students will have to bring pieces from home for Day 2** ENERGY TRANSFER
Day 2 & 3 – Experiment & Revise Students start the hard work of trial and error. They begin experimenting and revising designs. They will usually think of other last minute supplies they can bring from home. Students will experiment and revise design. Groups must be able to set up their contraptions in 10 minutes. ENERGY TRANSFER
ENERGY TRANSFER Day 4 – Design Show On this the final day, students are given 10 minutes to set up their contraptions. The class is asked to move from contraption to contraption to view the final products. Each group should describe the purpose and contraption path to the class before starting the chain reaction. ENERGY TRANSFER RUBRIC Graded on Creativity & Design (10 pts) Graded on whether the machine accomplishes the goal and completes each step (30 pts) ENERGY TRANSFER
