Allied Defeats 90% of US resources went to Europe In the first 6 months, it looked like the Allies would lose the war in the Pacific. Japanese took Guam, Wake Island, Hong Kong, Singapore, Burma, Dutch East Indies, and the Philippines Important Burma Road supply route into China from India was cut

Bataan Date: January 7th 1942 Theatre: Pacific Location: Philippines Winner: Axis Significance: 20,000 US troops led by Douglas MacArthur withdrew to Bataan, but eventually surrendered. Bataan Death March-85 Mile forced march of US GI’s who were tortured and eventually burned alive. MacArthur ordered, “I shall return”
