Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Mark Your Calendar WEEKLY HOMEWORK 2nd Grade 770-578-7200 jessica.taylor2@cobbk12.org Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Week of April 22, 2019 A Peek at Our Week WEEKLY HOMEWORK Reading: Author’s Purpose We will learn how to identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the April writing calendar Math: 3 Digit Addition and Subtraction We will review how to add and subtract within 1,000 using place value strategies. We will also learn how to explain, in writing, how the addition and subtraction strategy worked, using place value and properties of operations. Math Practice one 3-digit addition and subtraction problem a night (with regrouping/ decomposing) then explain your strategy in writing. Be sure to include the strategy you used and place value vocabulary) Writing: Personal Narrative/ Informational/ Opinion We will review how to write a narrative in which they recount a well-elaborated short sequence of events, an informative piece that introduces a topic, uses facts, and provides a concluding statement, and an opinion piece in which they state their opinion, supply reasons, use linking words, and provide a concluding statement.
