Group Work 1: Country Situation Review Has the global economic crisis affected employment & wage developments in your country? Any examples? How have trade unions responded? What is the strengths and weaknesses of the trade unions in your country? List out the main problems you see in the Employers behaviour in regard to collective bargaining with the union? What are the ‘means’ available to unions to enforce workers rights? What are the factors that prevent unions from playing more effective role in dispute resolution & collective bargaining? (focus on drawbacks in law, capacity of unions, role of authorities) – give specific examples What are main priorities of Trade Unions in your country? List top 4-5 priorities

Group Work 2 - Union Responses to precarious employment What are the most frequent /common ways to hide or disguise a employment relation? in which sectors, what kind of enterprises, in what kind of occupations Does the labour law apply to all workers? Does it address the needs of non-regular workers (despatch, agency, contract, casual, part time workers) Main problems related to employment agencies ‘s employees? What difficulties unions have in organizing contract, casual , agency workers? What are the reasons for trade union difficulties in organizing young people & women workers? What services or benefits does the union membership bring to a member in todays circumstances? Give example of successful organizing on precarious workers – what helped to organize?
