Executive Summary Starting Out Strong: Using Your YouthBuild Grant Planning Period Date: February 26, 2019 Moderator:Toni Wilson Speaker(s): Jenn Smith, Phoebe Reeves, Mary McRae This webinar will introduce grantees to the key requirements and recommendations for new grantees’ four month planning period. This review will cover the first four steps of requirements; Conditions of Award; Staffing; One Stop Partnerships; Mental Toughness and Recruitment Considerations; and provide a Planning Phase checklist covering all four months of the Planning Period. Grantees will learn how to maximize their four month planning period for successful programming through the following: Addressing and resolving any outstanding conditions of award Designing a staffing pattern that contains required staff and clear responsibilities Putting together and using a Mental Toughness and Recruitment component with Year One and Year Two goals in mind Using a Planning Phase Checklist that provides benchmarks for all four months of the Planning Period, including designing a strong, workable Pre-Apprenticeship pathway in a local high demand industry for immediate implementation with their grant.
