There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates They are : Mammals Fish Reptiles Birds Amphibians

There are certain characteristics that make a Humpback Whale a mammal. Theyre warm blooded, give birth to live humpback whales, and feed their babies using mothers milk. They breathe using lungs. They have to come to the surface to breathe. They also have small hairs on their body which is part of being a mammal.

This is a diagram of a humpback whale.

What Humpback Whales Eat Humpback whales eat: Shrimp, krill, small fish, and babies drink moms milk. They have baleen teeth. Baleen teeth are soft, furry teeth. A humpback whale can open his mouth and shrimp, krill, and small fish can swim in.

What Humpback Whales Look Like – Their Size, Shape, and Color. They can be as big as 52 feet long! Humpback whales can come in four different colors. Mottled White (White is very rare.) Black Gray

Humpback whales have dark gray skin and bumpy tubercles on their head. Female humpback whale are slightly bigger then a male humpback whale. Appearance

The Humpback Whales Social Habits The humpback whale helps other humpback whales. If a shark is trying to get the mothers calf, other humpback whales help the mother by scaring away the shark. If a humpback is trying to catch food, other humpback whales join in and make a net.

You can find humpback whales in Oceans around the world. Here are some locations: Pacific Ocean near North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Southern, Arctic oceans.

Interesting facts about Humpback Whales Humpback whales have ears but theyre inside their head! Humpback whales can blend into the sand on the ocean floor. Humpback whales dont have teeth, they have Baleen Humpback whales are very harmless.

Interesting facts about humpback whales Humpback whales can eat up to 50,000 gallons of krill, plankton, shrimp, and fish a day ! Humpback whales have a belly button ! Back in the olden days people used to kill humpback whales for their blubber and oil.

What should we do to protect humpback whales Dont kill them. good bad

Learning about the humpback whales is awesome and I recommend it! One: Its cool to read books about humpbacks. Two: Theyre beautiful animals. Learning about Humpbacks

Breaching Humpback whales can dive down five hundred to seven hundred feet and stay under there for up to 30 minutes. They can breach high out of the ocean… then splash the water VERY hard ! If you got slapped that hard, you would have a red mark for a week

Facts on male and females A male Humpback whale can sing up to 15 to 30 minutes. Humpback whales have lungs so they have to come up, breath fresh air, and go down into the ocean. Baby Humpbacks are six feet at birth.

Different kinds of whales Blue whale, Orca whale, Gray whale, Beluga whale, Narwhales, Sperm whales, Humpback whale, Bowhead whale, Minke whale, Trues beaked whale, Sei whale, Brydes whale, And more!

Identifying humpback whales No two humpbacks have the same tail. The two sides of the tail are called Flukes.

Population There are 20,000 to 30,000 Humpback Whales throughout the world. They are not an endangered animal.

Life span

Humpback whales can camouflage into sand, coral, and the water. Its hard to see humpback whales in dark water because their color can get to be so dark. Sometimes its easy to spot one. Like if its white, water is not white it does not camouflage. But it camouflages into ice barges, snow, and ice.

When they want to find food and they cant see, they send a noise out and it bounces off a fish or a rock. Their eye sight is not that good, so they use echolocation. If there is a rock, they can hear where it is!
