A Christian view of Climate Change Is this Topic worth talking about for a sermon (Like should we vote for the Liberals, Labour or the Greens – its worth). A subject which we are hearing about and the movements of it are using our young to exploit their cause. My attitude to the environment as everybody else is I hope, to care & Look after the world we live in, recycles right through to using less dirty energy (if it is in my control), not in anyway abuse it.

Climate Change In the 1970s, global temperatures had actually been dropping since 1945, and a “global cooling” concern became prominent. Although Global warming has been the prominent phrase used in the last 15 years, it appears the Climate Change phrase is now more popular. The Flood. Many resources have come through this Godly event, provides with warm & electricity.

Appears to be 3 primary motives for Climate Change. 1.Some fully believe the greenhouse gas emissions are causing climate change. They honestly examine the data and come to that conclusion. 2. Many within the environmentalist movement are so obsessed with protecting "Mother Earth" that they will use any argument to accomplish that goal, no matter how biased and unbalanced it is. 3. some promote the climate change mentality for financial gain. Some of the strongest proponents of climate change legislation are those who stand to have the greatest financial gain from "green" laws and technologies.

Events of the past. Earth day. Established in 1970, Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year. It is a day for people around the world to show their support for environmental protection, and it is often filled with events that encourage care for the earth (such as tree planting or recycling efforts) and educate participants on the environment and how to preserve it. On Earth Day 2016, more than 120 countries signed the Paris Agreement, a controversial treaty in which the participating members agreed to lessen the impact their countries have on global warming. Environmentalism There is a difference between the biblical view of the environment and the political movement known as "environmentalism." Understanding this difference will shape a Christian’s view of environmentalism. Environment: a)The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates. b) The natural world, as a whole or in a particular geographical area, especially as affected by human activity. Environmentalism: Concern about and action aimed at protecting the environment. Political groups or movements (including governments & Scientists). To preserve and save our planet.

The Biblical view to the Environment. Genesis 1:26-28 26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Stewardship (implies caretaking) Not abusing. Psalm 8:6-8 Because mankind was created in His image, God gave men and women a privileged place among all creatures and commanded them to exercise stewardship over the earth 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

We are to manage the resources God has given us, 10 “For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield, 11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the beasts of the field may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard. Exodus 23:10-11 & Lev. 25:1-7. In the Garden of Eden. then left fallow for the seventh year in order to replenish the soil's nutrients, both to rest the land and to ensure continued provision for His people in the future

God cares for us In addition to our role of caretakers, we are to appreciate the functionality and beauty of the environment. God has placed on this planet everything needed to feed, clothe, and house the billions of people who have lived on it since the Garden of Eden. All the resources He has provided for our needs are renewable, and He continues to provide the sun and rain necessary to sustain and replenish those resources. He has also decorated the planet in glorious colour and scenic beauty to appeal to our senses and thrill our souls with wonder. There are countless varieties of flowers, exotic birds, and other lovely things of His grace to us.

THE EARTH WE INHABIT IS NOT A PERMANENT PLANET 2 Peter 3:10-13 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

The physical, natural earth in its present form, with its entire universe will be consumed, and God will create a "new heaven and a new earth“ Revelations 21:1  Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. The Eternal Spiritual Home of heaven

God is in control  Psalm 46:1-3. God is our refuge and strength,  a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,  though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Jeremiah 10:12-13. It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens. 13 When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses. Matthew 8:26  And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

Conclusion Environmental issues are important, but they are not the most important questions facing mankind. Christians ought to treat our world with respect and good stewardship. As Christians, our focus should be proclaiming the truth of the gospel, the message that has the power to save souls. Saving the planet is not within our power or responsibility. Climate change may or may not be real, and may or may not be human-caused. What we can know for certain is that God is good and sovereign, and that Planet Earth will be our habitat for as long as God desires it to be To be respectful to different thinking.

Colosssians 1:16-17. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. God is in Control.
