Volume 56, Issue 4, Pages 1349-1353 (October 1999) Vitamin D receptor genotype influences parathyroid hormone and calcitriol levels in predialysis patients  Maria Paz Marco, Isabel Martínez, Maria Luisa Amoedo, Mercè Borràs, Ramón Saracho, Jaume Almirall, Joan Fibla, Elvira Fernández  Kidney International  Volume 56, Issue 4, Pages 1349-1353 (October 1999) DOI: 10.1046/j.1523-1755.1999.00678.x Copyright © 1999 International Society of Nephrology Terms and Conditions

Figure 1 Mean (95% CI) serum parathyroid hormone (PTH; A) and calcitriol (B) levels in patients with different vitamin D receptor (VDR) genotypes and mild, moderate and severe chronic renal failure (CRF). The significant interaction between genotype and creatinine clearance (CCr) group leads to a significant increment of PTH levels the bb and Bb genotypes, but not in the BB genotype. Inversely, calcitriol levels are higher in the BB genotype than in the other genotypes in the mild and severe CRF groups. Symbols are: (□) mild CRF group; (⋄) moderate CRF group; (○) severe CRF group.
