Economic Research & Extension Develop SHARE Farm and regional enterprise budgets Develop SHARE Farm Soil Health Economics database Estimate the impacts of soil health Communicate results of economic research to growers

Develop SHARE Farm and Regional Enterprise Budgets Completed activities: Budget models for SHARE Farm and regional enterprises have been created. 2015 NDSU Extension values have been used to validate the model. Next steps: The budgets will be updated in the next few weeks when 2016 NDSU Extension numbers are released

Develop SHARE Farm Soil Health Economics database Completed activities: A conceptual model of the impact of cropping practices on soil health and soil health on land values and returns has been developed. Next steps: This model will be validated by other project team members and an empirical model built. Data from the SHARE Farm and other sources be assembled into the database and used for use by the model.

Estimate the Impacts of Soil Health Completed activities: The model of estimating the economic impacts of soil health have been finalized. Baseline numbers have been used to calibrate the model. Next step: Use SHARE Farm and other data to provide estimates of the impacts of soil health.

Communicate Results to Growers Completed activities: Planning for Extension education programming on the economic impacts of soil salinity has been initiated. Next steps: Finalize and implement the Extension education program plan.
