Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Constant Contact Constant contact is useful on a sidewalk when you’re outside walking. You would basically use it to determine if a texture changed.

Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Constant Contact Cover your whole body using your cane, shoulder to shoulder, protecting yourself at all times. You might be looking for a sidewalk where the texture might change. It could be smoother or it could get rougher. It could also tell you if you are approaching an intersection.

Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Texture Change For instance, a brick sidewalk. Would it feel any different? Here’s a texture change, found by using constant contact. It would feel rougher.

Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Approaching Doors How do you use your cane and cane hand to find a door knob or handle of the store without using your other hand to feel around for it?

Brought to you by the Washington State School for the Blind Approaching Doors Now bring your hand down to the bottom of the grip or to the top of the shaft of the cane. Slide your hand and cane over until you find the door handle.
