Testing your inner voice

Ask the person to say numbers 26 to 50 out loud, but saying one out loud and two and three in their heads, with their tongue clamped between their teeth. They must not move any part of their body, such as nodding their head or using their fingers. They must complete it within 25 seconds

For example: If I were to count from 1-10 in the same pattern it would look and sound like this 1 (Out loud) 2 3 (silently in my head) 4 (out loud) 5 6 (silently in my head) 7 (out loud) 8 9 (silently in my head) 10 (out loud) The purpose is not to see how fast you can count by threes but rather give you the opportunity to focus on the voice inside your head.

The RECITING VOICE is the voice you hear when you are ONLY reciting the words and not drawing from the text

The conversational voice has a CONVERSATION with the text. It represents your thinking as you talk back to the text in an interactive way.

Conversational Voice can take 2 forms: Distracting voice Interacting voice

Distracting voice the voice that makes connections, asks questions, identifies confusion, agrees or disagrees with ideas. This voice DEEPENS your understanding of the text. the voice inside your head that pulls you away from the meaning of the text. It begins a conversation, but gets distracted by a connection, question, or idea. Soon you are thinking about something unrelated to the text.
