State and Capital New Jersey’s capital is Trenton. The state bird is the Eastern Gold Finch. The state flower is violet. The states tree is the Northern Red Oak. The state nickname is The Garden State.

Landforms and Features One of the states landforms is the beach that is called The Jersey Shore. The New Jersey Shore is one of the most popular beaches in the region. The Atlantic Coastal Plain is the largest geographic area of New Jersey and covers more than half the state.

Bodies of water One body of water is Lake Carnegie. A fact about Lake Carnegie is that it was formed from the dam of the Millstone river. The Passaic River is another body of water in New Jersey. Two fact about the Passaic River is it is 80 miles long and the other one is that the source is the Mendham. Is This is a picture of The Passaic River in northeast New Jersey.

Climate New Jersey has a fairly moderate climate, with cold winters and warm, humid summers. The state’s temperature ranges from a July average of 74 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit in January. Even though New Jersey is pretty far north, the temperatures all most never below 30 degrees.

Natural Resources One major crop is cranberries, their grown all year around. Another major crop is blueberries, New Jersey is widely recognized as the blueberry capital of the nation. One livestock product is cattle, although Jersey cows are far less numerous, they produce more milk per animal. Another livestock animal is chicken, the Jersey Giant, as its name implies, was developed in New Jersey and is a true giant of the chicken world.

Mining and Manufacturing New Jersey’s mining industry is vital to the state’s economy. The value of nonfuel minerals in 2004 was $341 million. New Jersey’s combined direct and indirect economic output gain from the mining industry was $2.7 billion (2005 data). These materials were further transformed by consuming industries into consumer and industrial goods creating an additional $2.0 trillion in value added by other minerals, metal and coal consuming industries.

History of New Jersey European contact soon began with the exploration of the Jersey Shore by Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. The New Jersey region came under the control of the Swedes and the Dutch resulting in a struggle in which the Dutch were victorious. New Jersey was the first of the thirteen colonies that broke off from Britten in The American Revolution adopting the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Tourist Attractions The first tourist attractions is The Thomas Edison National Historical Park. Thomas Edison’s home and laboratory are a step back in time, when machines were run by belts and pulleys and music was played on phonographs. Where to the passerby, the buildings betray little evidence of the industries they once started. Discover were America’s greatest inventor changed our world forever. Boardwalk Hall, formally known as the Historic Atlantic City Convention Hall, is a area in Atlantic City, Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. Tourist Attractions Part 2 The George Washington Bridge-known informally as the GW Bridge, the GWB, the GW, or the George-is a double-decked suspension bridge spanning the Hudson River connecting the Heights neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan in New York City to Fort Lee, New Jersey. For over 60 years, since its establishment in 1955, Storybook Land has been keeping the spirit of childhood alive in an entertaining and educational atmosphere.

Fun Facts New Jersey is a major seaport state with the largest seaport in the U.S. located in Elizabeth. The Passaic River was the sight to the first submarine ride, inventor John P. Holland. New Jersey has the highest population density in the U.S. An average of 1,030 people per square mile, which is 13 times the national average. New Jersey has the most diners in the world and is sometimes referred to as the diner capital of the world.
