EVS, Solidarity Corps and BalkanKids Foundation You can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone!

Volunteering through the European Solidarity Corps What is the European Solidarity Corps ? New European Union initiative, set up by the European Commission, which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in various projects for 2 to 12 months Opportunities for whom? Everyone from 18 to 30 years old living in Europe and partner countries Where? How? In your own country or anywhere in Europe Food money, pocket money, travel expanses and insurance are covered by the European Union To do what? Social work Environmental work Cultural promotions

Why volunteer? You feel something is missing from your life You lost yourself and your direction You want to explore the world and meet new people You want to give a ray of light and get a ray of inspiration You believe that life is full of opportunities You simply want to make the world a better place

Why the EU wants and needs you? Share cultural differences and promote cultural sensitivity Encourage a European sense of belonging and European networks Increase employability Promote social and environmental issues Federate around common values The EU aims at engaging 100’000 young people by 2020

Example of what volunteers do at Balkan Kids We Are… a youth NGO working on projects of non formal education, fund raising activities and active citizenship. So far we have hosted over 70 volunteers! We Do… social work with kids and adults with disabilities. We teach English and organize events with children living in foster cares. We organize cultural, charity and promotional events. We encourage the development of volunteers’ personal projects. We Believe…that smiling and colours go a long way… that diversity and open-mindedness are key to build a better, more caring world…that a bit of energy and lots of love will stark infinite possibilities…
