Dual Credit Dual Credit is a program that allows high school students to enroll in college classes, and earn credit toward a highschool diploma and college degree.

ALM (Adolescent Literacy Model) Striving Readers Grant gave us $1million for literacy programs. 3 year program Teaches students to write to learn, to demonstrate reading comprehension, and academic dialogue. 13 members of JCHS staff went to a 4 day training for ALM

Transition Rate 2017-2018 Jackson County High School has been designated as “Other”; being the highest designation that a school can receive in the new accountability system. The percent of students who are proficient/distinguished in writing increased from 55.3% to 60% The percent of students who graduated transition ready increased from 75.8% to 86.6%.

Early Childhood Education Students are trained in child development techniques. Including techniques for observing and recording behaviors, communication skills, guidance techniques, developmentally appropriate practices and the role of a the teacher in early childhood settings.

Early Childhood Education One of the most valuable learning opportunities this pathway provides is being a teacher's aide in elementary classrooms. Students go out to the elementary schools around the county and work with preschool and kindergarten age children. Afterwards they will earn: Commonwealth Childcare Certifacation (CCCC). Early Childhood Orentations Certifaction Pediatric Head Abuse Trama Certification

Culinary Ran by Angie carroll, culinary is a very popular career pathway. Catering is one of Culinarys most popular tasks that the students do. Constantly catering for the events that go on in the school. Students also get the chance to Join FCCLA and help with other events like the Health Fair and Home and Farm Safety Day. Students do the following for industry certification Kentucky Food Handlers Certifaction PRE-PAC KOSSA

Nursing(MNA) In this class students get the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to become a nursing assistant. The class begins with a intro class that gives the students a chance to see what other things they will learn if they continue the class. After, they move to medical terminology and Emergency Procedures were students learn the terminology they would use in the medical field along with becoming CPR and First Aid certified. Students will take a MNA class to learn the skills of a nursing assistant, at the end of the year the students go to clinicals where they get to work in a nursing home for there mandatory hours The students will take a state exam to become certified nursing assistants (CNA) Lastly, the students will take a body functions class to further their knowledge of the human body.

Hosa (Future Health Professionals) This past spring our HOSA had two students place in the top three and three students place in the top five at state competition. This summer two students competed at ILC (international leadership conference) in Dallas Texas, one of our students Kennith Clements placed first in competition life support skills. HOSA is a medical student organization that gives students a chance to see what the medical field could be like through competition. Hosa is also primarily lead by students that are elected each year. Jackson county ATC HOSA is under the direction of adviser Rachel Hillard. HOSA has 20 members this year. HOSA also dose monthly awareness boards to bring light to the health problems the world faces.

Hosa (Future Health Professionals) Each year the HOSA officers attend KLTI a leadership conference to help them be the best officer they can be.

Future Farmers of America (FFA) A dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares its members for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. FFA builds partnerships with individuals, businesses and organizations to secure resources for the future of agricultural education. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) A dynamic and effective student organization that is ran by Susan Tillery and Angie Carroll this club helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences. FCCLA donates to the food banks for easter and thanksgiving for the families in need. Club members are activly invovled in local and regional meeting and trips.

ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) ROTC is one of the most demanding and successful leadership programs in the country. The training a student receives in Army ROTC teaches leadership development, military skills and career training. Courses take place both in the classroom and in the field and are mixed with normal academic studies. Additional summer programs, such as Jump School, may also be attended. Upon completion, an Army ROTC graduate is awarded officer status in the Army.

Future business leaders of America (FBLA) FBLA helps high school students prepare for careers in business through academic competitions (FBLA Competitive Events), leadership development, and educational programs. Students explore college and career opportunities through a number of Co-Curricular Educational Programs. Members take part in academic competitions, networking events with accomplished business professionals at conferences, and community service projects. Plus, members have exclusive access to scholarships from a select group of academic institutions.

Drama Club Drama has resurfest in the past two years. Drama is under the direction of Cinda Holland but is also helped run by a group of student officers. Drama has done three performances since restarting they include “The 12 days of highschool christmas”, “Beauty and the beast JR”, and “Seussical the Musical JR”. For all of the performances the students help with set design, costumes, choreography, and hair and makeup. Drama has also had the chance to write their own script. They came up with the storyline along with the characters in the end they were able to perform it for the high school.
