Sacred texts

Hinduism- The vedas The Vedas are written in Sanscrit, the ancient language of India.

Judaism- The torah The Torah is written in Hebrew, the language of modern Israel.

Buddhism- the tripitaka The Tripitaka consists of three manuscripts: Sutta- contained the teachings of the Buddha Vinaya- contained the rules of Buddhism Abhidhamma- contained further knowledge Written in Indian language called Pali- the Buddha himself spoke Pali

Christianity- The bible Consists of the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible) and the New Testament (Accounts of Jesus’ life, death & resurrection, and teachings). Old testament written in Hebrew and the New Testament written in Greek.

Islam- The qu’ran The Qu’ran is written in Arabic, the native language of Mecca and the whole Arabian peninsula.
